EDITOR - AFP - WASHINGTON D.C. METRO AREA
Agence France-Presse (AFP) is seeking an experienced editor to work on its English Desk in Washington DC.
The position is available immediately.
The English Desk in Washington is the main editing hub for stories from AFP reporters in North America and Latin America. The desk of 12 editors operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year producing stories for AFP’s global audience.
Candidates must be flexible and open to working evening, weekend and overnight shifts. The job involves editing stories written in English and translating stories from French and Spanish into English. Reporting opportunities are also available. At least five years of news reporting and editing experience are required. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to multitask. French is required and Spanish is a plus.
Washington is the headquarters for AFP’s North America operation, which consists of bureaus in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, Ottawa, San Francisco and the United Nations.
