Video Producer / Editor at the AFPTV Africa Desk

Starting date: as soon as possible
Deadline for applications: December 10, 2025
Location: London, UK

THE JOB

AFPTV is offering an exciting opportunity to operate as a video editor in London.

You will work on the very busy Africa desk and help other desks when needed, especially the Europe editing team located in the same office.

Among other tasks, you will turn around videos and dopesheets for clients, compile packages of b-roll and file footage, cut from live feeds and help adapt videos into English and French. You will sometimes be asked to source UGC and videos from external providers.

You will contribute to the speedy delivery of breaking news stories and to the quality of our video service.

There may also be some limited shooting opportunities or field producing.

You will have to ensure the reliability of news covered and respect for the agency's editorial policy.

You should be familiar with the issues involved in handling user generated content and AFP’s guidelines concerning the use of UGC.

You should bring a multi-media approach to the job and expect to coordinate closely with text reporters and photographers.

As a general rule, you will commit to respecting AFP’s ethic charter as well as the editorial guidelines in force in the Agency’s style guide.

You must be ready to work long days and a wide range of hours, including early mornings and late nights, as well as weekends.

In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A self-starter with exceptional organisational abilities, who pays close attention to detail, you will be passionate about video news - particularly news out of Africa.

  • You will have a native level of French and be fluent in English. Other languages are a plus.

  • We would also welcome previous experience as a producer or editor, knowledge of the needs of big broadcasters, and international experience.

  • Honed digital non-linear editing skills, preferably on Adobe Premiere or Qube, are a must.

  • Filming skills are a plus.
