Migrant report wins AFP another Prix Varenne 2020

AFP journalist Clément Melki has been awarded the Young Journalist Prize in the National Daily Press category of the Prix Varenne for his report entitled "God, Water and Us: When Migrants Cross the Channel". The report was published by several media including Libération, Médiapart and La Croix. In February, two other AFP journalists received awards in the Prix Varenne, Kenzo Tribouillard (National Press Prize) and Léo Malafaia (the International Prize).

AFP Rewarded Twice at the Prix Varenne 2020

Amongst the 148 photos received for this new edition of the Prix Varenne, the Jury rewarded, Wednesday February 17, 2021, the work of two AFP photographers: Kenzo Tribouillard, National Press Award and Leo Malafaia, International Award.

Eitan Abramovich awarded 2nd Photo Prize, in the ‘Pandemic in Latin America’ category of the POY Latam 2021

On the 10th anniversary of the POY Latam, which recognises excellence in documentary, journalistic and artistic photography in Latin America, AFP photographer Eitan Abramovich was awarded second place in the special category 'The Pandemic in Latin America' for his highly aesthetic and intimate portrait of his family life during the pandemic.

AFP photographer Cristina Quicler has won the 35th Andalusian Journalism Award in the photography category for her picture “Rocío Chico, traslado de la Virgen del Rocío”, awarded by the Junta de Andalucía (Regional Government of Andalucia).

The Guardian Names AFP’s Hector Retamal Agency Photographer of the Year

The British daily notably praised the Shanghai-based Chilean photographer for his coverage of the Wuhan crisis, the city where the first cases of Covid-19 were detected. He has made trips to the Chinese megalopolis all throughout 2020, most recently documenting its return to life.

Anthony Wallace Wins at 2020 Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Awards for War Correspondents

At the 27th edition of the Prix Bayeux Calvados-Normandie des correspondants de guerre, AFP photographer Anthony Wallace has received the Public’s choice Award for his series "Hong Kong: A Popular Revolt" and was also awarded second place by the international jury in the Photo trophy.
