دعت اثنتا عشرة دولة أوروبية الاثنين الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى تعزيز وجوده في منطقة القطب الشمالي التي تشهد توترات جيوسياسية حادة وسط تهديدات روسية وطموحات أبداها الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب.
وجاء في بيان مشترك أصدرته هذه الدول، ومن بينها فرنسا والدنمارك والسويد وألمانيا واليونان، في ختام قمة عُقدت في شمال فنلندا "ندعو الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى الاضطلاع بدور أكثر استراتيجية واستباقية في منطقة القطب الشمالي الأوروبية".
