AFP and Italy’s Fort Bard renew their partnership with the launch of a second exhibition

Following the success of their first collaboration, AFP and Fort Bard have unveiled their latest exhibition, "Contrasts. Stories from a World on Edge," which will be on display until 20 July, 2025.

The exhibition will take place in the Opera Mortai rooms, within the historic fortress located in the Aosta Valley, northwest Italy.

It features 84 photographs that highlight the contrasts and inequalities shaping our societies, offering a striking portrayal of a world growing increasingly fragile. The exhibition delves into a range of themes, from economic disparities to conflict, cultural traditions to the realms of art and entertainment, the climate crisis, and the rapid rise of urbanisation.

Building on the success of the 2024 exhibition, "Time's Up," which explored the impact of climate change on our planet through the lens of AFP’s photojournalists, this year’s selection continues to inspire reflection on contemporary global issues.

Fort Bard, a 19th-century fortress which has been transformed into a cultural centre, serves as a hub for cultural exchange and attracting thousands of visitors from around the world each year.

The Fort of Bard is open to the public:

  • Tuesday to Friday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
