MVC Group, a group specialising in technical apparel for cycling and outdoor sports, announces the acquisition of Tailfin, the global leader in the premium technical bikepacking segment.
Founded in Bristol in 2017 by Nick Broadbent – CEO, mechanical engineer and product designer – Tailfin has rapidly established itself as a leading international name in premium bikepacking bags, racks and accessories, combining design and performance with a strong focus on innovation. The company has developed proprietary technologies protected by more than 20 granted and pending patents, building a leading position based on engineering excellence, materials research and rigorous product development and validation processes.
Over the past five years, Tailfin has achieved average annual growth of approximately 50%, reaching almost €10 million in revenues in 2025 across global markets. More than half of its revenues were generated in the US, UK and Germany, as the company progressively expanded its international presence. This growth will now be further supported by MVC Group’s commercial and industrial capabilities, backed by the Group’s presence in 75 countries through 10 subsidiaries.
Tailfin’s Founder and management team will continue to lead the company while retaining a minority stake, ensuring strategic continuity and preserving the innovation capabilities that have driven its growth and built a strong brand identity, now also supported by a steadily growing community.
The acquisition represents an acceleration of MVC Group’s development strategy, expanding its cycling offering with a brand whose positioning around excellence is aligned with and complementary to the technical apparel of Castelli and Sportful.
At the same time, MVC Group is acquiring a valuable pool of technological expertise, design capabilities and intellectual property that can support the development of new solutions for triathlon and outdoor sports, where MVC Group operates with Zoot and Karpos respectively.
The acquisition announced today has a positive impact on the development path outlined in MVC Group’s three-year Industrial Plan, which targeted €150 million in revenues by 2028. In light of the expanded Group perimeter and the growth opportunities generated by industrial and commercial synergies, MVC Group expects to revise its development targets upwards, while maintaining a solid financial structure consistent with its planned investments.
Emilio Foà, CEO of MVC Group, said: “The most valuable acquisitions are those that strengthen an organisation’s capabilities. With Tailfin, we are not simply adding a new product category: we are integrating a leading brand whose positioning around excellence and strong focus on innovation are fully aligned with our own brands, while also being complementary to their offering. We are also integrating a strategic asset: the company’s distinctive technological expertise and extensive intellectual property, which could generate product innovation across the different disciplines in which we operate, from cycling and triathlon to outdoor sports. We are delighted to welcome Nick and the entire team and look forward to working together to unlock Tailfin’s potential for further international growth and to embark on a new phase of shared development.”
Nick Broadbent, Founder and CEO of Tailfin, commented: “Since Tailfin was founded, we have invested heavily in innovation to develop products that set the standard within the rapidly growing category of bikepacking and adventure cycling. Joining MVC Group will allow us to accelerate this journey further, leveraging the Group’s industrial strength and international presence, while preserving the identity, autonomy and innovation culture that have made Tailfin so successful.”
For MVC Group, this is the fourth transaction completed in less than a year, following the launch of its tenth international subsidiary in the UK last July; the acquisition of Wolvenberg in February, which led to the creation of MVC Benelux; and the transaction carried out through Zoot, the California-based triathlon apparel and accessories brand, which acquired its European distributor last October, creating Zoot Europe.
