THE JOB

AFPTV is seeking a motivated Video Journalist for a full-time video Germany coordinator position in our Berlin bureau starting in December 2025.

Your role will be to organise the video coverage of Germany by coordinating and supervising AFP’svideo journalists in Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt, as well as the production of some VJs from our German service. You will also help recruit, train and coordinate a network of freelancers.

You will shoot and edit news and feature stories, as well as live streams. You will also keep a contact book of third-party video providers, especially with those offering live feeds of news events.

Reporting to the AFP TV Europe Editors-in-Chief in London and to the Berlin bureau chief and his deputy, you will be skilled at setting up, shooting, scripting, voicing and editing news and feature packages as well as delivering very high-quality b-roll edits.

Planning being a fundamental part of your remit, you will send weekly agendas and ensure that events on the internal calendar are up to date to enable our clients and bureaus to plan for upcoming news events and their coverage.

The role involves also travel across Germany, and occasionally elsewhere depending on the agency’s needs.

You will also be involved in the coordination of the Central Europe region, especially on weekends. This role could grow, depending on the agency’s needs.

The video team in Germany is composed of four journalists: the coordinator and a VJ based in Berlin, a VJ in Munich and one in Frankfurt. Several video journalists from the German service also contribute to the production, as well as a network of freelancers.

You will closely monitor social media and strictly adhere to the Agency's guidelines on social media activity. As a general rule, you will commit to respecting AFP’s ethic charter as well as all the editorial guidelines in force and in AFP’s stylebook.

You must be prepared to work flexible hours, especially early in the morning, but also some evenings and weekends.

In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage needs and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.
