Oli Scarff won the prize for outstanding single picture in the "Away from the Action" category at the 2017 British Sports Journalism awards (SJA).

While the Winter Games ended yesterday, about 30,000 pictures have been broadcast. The greatest ones - taken by AFP photographers during the Games - are available on the Instagram account afpsport. Launched at the beginning of February, the account gathers the top sport pictures taken by the Agency photographers. The AFP’s sport production may also be consulted on the sports service’s Twitter account, @AFP_Sport
The AFP photo, video, text and infographic coverage of the Winter Olympics has been highly picked up by Asian media. The diplomatic aspect regarding North Korea is the most successful topic.
The 75th Pictures of the Year International competition honours five AFP photo journalists.
As it does since the very beginning of the Syrian conflict, about 7 years ago, AFP works on the field to make the world realize about the tragedy currently happening in the Oriental Ghouta, a rebel headquarter near Damas. Since Sunday, a true downpour of fire is falling on these neighborhoods, besieged since 2013 by the by government forces and their allies. About 300 people died during these four days.
