AFP attended the Inter American Press Association / IAPA’s 78th General Assembly
Created in 1942, the Inter American Press Association (in Spanish: Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa, SIP) is a press advocacy group representing major media organizations in North America, South America and the Caribbean. It is made up of more than 1,300 print publications throughout the Western Hemisphere and is based in Miami, Florida.
AFP was present for this General Assembly as a proud partner and sponsor of the IAPA, but also as a media that covers the American continent.

Yasuyoshi Chiba wins second place in the photo category of the Prix Bayeux
The 29ᵉ edition of the Bayeux Calvados-Normandy War Correspondents' Award has awarded second place in the photo category to AFP'S Yasuyoshi Chiba for his coverage of the entry into Mekele on 28 June 2021 of fighters from the Tigray Defense Force, who then recaptured the capital of this rebel province in northern Ethiopia.
