O presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, reuniu-se com a presidente encarregada da Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, em Nova York, paralelamente à Assembleia Geral da ONU, informou uma fonte da Casa Branca nesta terça-feira.
Esse foi o primeiro encontro entre os dois desde que Delcy assumiu o poder, após a captura do presidente Nicolás Maduro e de sua mulher durante uma operação militar dos Estados Unidos, em janeiro.
Do lado americano, os secretários de Estado e do Tesouro, a chefe de gabinete e o assessor Stephen Miller participaram do encontro, informou a fonte.
A viagem de Delcy a Nova York marca a primeira participação de um líder venezuelano na Assembleia Geral desde 2018. Ela se reuniu ontem com o secretário-geral da ONU e com representantes de três grandes instituições financeiras internacionais.
