Bayern Münchens Neuzugang Ismael Saibari ist in den Niederlanden zum Fußballer des Jahres gewählt worden. Als Auszeichnung erhielt der 25 Jahre alte marokkanische Nationalspieler dafür den "Gouden Schoen" (Goldener Schuh). Die Wahl erfolgte durch die Kapitäne der Mannschaften der Eredivisie.
Saibari hatte die PSV Eindhoven in der vergangenen Saison mit herausragenden Leistungen zur Meisterschaft und dem Gewinn des Supercups geführt. In 37 Pflichtspielen traf er 19 Mal, neun weitere Treffer bereitete vor. Am Freitag erzielte Saibari beim 7:0 (3:0) gegen Union Berlin sein erstes Tor für die Münchner, bei denen er noch während der WM einen Vertrag bis 2031 unterschrieben hatte.
Trainer Vincent Kompany war beim Champions-League-Spiel des FC Bayern in Eindhoven (2:1) im Januar auf den Offensiv-Allrounder aufmerksam geworden. "Kennen wir den?", hatte er Sportvorstand Max Eberl nach dem Spiel, in dem Saibari den zwischenzeitlichen Ausgleich erzielt hatte, gefragt. "Ja, tun wir", war die Antwort. Im Sommer wurde er für eine Ablösesumme von rund 50 Millionen Euro verpflichtet.
