Sechs Tage nach dem letzten Spiel bei der Heim-WM hat die deutsche Basketball-Nationalspielerin Leonie Fiebich einen Sieg gegen das WNBA-Spitzenteam Minnesota Lynx gefeiert. Mit New York Liberty gewann die 26-Jährige 93:81 in Minneapolis, Fiebich stand von Beginn an auf dem Court. Sie erzielte drei Punkte, sammelte fünf Rebounds und zwei Assists.
Ihre Nationalmannschaftskollegin Nyara Sabally kam beim 85:103 von Toronto Tempo gegen Indiana Fever nicht zum Einsatz. Fiebich und Sabally hatten am vergangenen Sonntag mit Deutschland im Spiel um Platz drei gegen Spanien verloren (58:81). Der WM-Titel ging zum fünften Mal nacheinander und zum zwölften Mal insgesamt an die USA. Fiebich wurde ins Allstar-Team gewählt.
In der WNBA hat Fiebich mit Liberty noch Titelchancen. Toronto ist bereits länger aus dem Rennen.
