Anthony Wallace wins Human Rights Award

The chief photographer in our Hong Kong bureau, Anthony Wallace, has won the Photography (Series) award at this year’s Human Rights Press Awards.

Anthony Wallace was recognised for his powerful photos of the months-long pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong – images that capture the passion, intensity and humanity of the movement and its increasingly violent confrontations with the Hong Kong security forces.

The Human Rights Press Awards recognise top rights-related reporting from around Asia, with the goal of increasing respect for people’s basic rights and focusing attention on threats to those freedoms.

The awards, which are now in their 24th year, are organised by The Foreign Correspondents’ Club Hong Kong, Amnesty International and the Hong Kong Journalists Association.
