Agence France-Presse, ANSA and DPA have teamed up to create a website about the European Union

Agence France-Presse (AFP), Italian news agency ANSA and Germany’s Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA) have teamed up to create a new website called the European Data News Hub which offers free media content about the European Union.

The site www.ednh.news offers stories in five languages as well as graphics, video and photos in a bid to inform and stimulate debate on the issues that people across Europe are talking about.

The project is a joint venture between AFP, Germany's DPA and Italy's ANSA agencies. It is funded by the European Commission, but its editorial independence is guaranteed in its founding charter.

German group Datenfreunde (OpenDataCity) will run the website, providing data on trending news and topics. Other media groups are invited to upload their tools onto their own websites.

In the future, specialists in data journalism and other European news agencies will be invited to contribute to the EDNH.
