Fiji urges developed countries back 'just transition' to renewables
Fiji's climate minister urged developed countries on Monday to back a "just transition" to renewable energy with help for nations most exposed to the impacts of global warming.
Speaking to journalists, climate minister Lynda Tabuya called for "commitments from our developed countries in terms of reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning away from fossil fuels, but not just transitioning, but a just transition".
"We rely on and we appeal to countries to commit to climate finance, to commit to projects to help us to have a just transition away from fossil fuels."
