The desk produces multimedia stories for AFP’s global audience. While there is a primary focus on the Asia-Pacific, desk editors will also become involved in stories from around the globe at short notice or on dedicated shifts covering other world regions.
THE JOB
The Bangkok and Southeast Asia correspondent is core to our English-language coverage of one of AFP's most dynamic regions, which takes in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.
The regional coverage is extremely diverse, ranging from crime, lifestyle and politics in Thailand to the impact of China's grand plans on environment of its smaller neighbours and the aftermath of the military coup in Myanmar.

THE JOB
The English-language correspondent in Beirut is part of a team of seven text journalists (among them the bureau chief) working in Arabic, English and French.
As well as covering Lebanon and its current devastating economic and political crisis, you will contribute to AFP’s coverage of the conflict in Syria.
The Damascus bureau falls under the responsibility of Beirut and material from the bureau and from stringers across Syria, including in conflict zones, is dealt with by Beirut.

Global news agency Agence France-Presse on Wednesday launched the 2015 edition of the Kate Webb prize, which is awarded to locally-hired journalists in Asia for exceptional coverage done in dangerous or difficult conditions. It carries a 3,000-euro ($3,300) cash prize and applications are open until May 8, 2015 at midnight Hong Kong time (1600 GMT). The winner will be announced in May and invited to a prize-giving ceremony in Asia.
