THE JOB
AFPTV is seeking a motivated Video Journalist for a full-time video journalist position in our Berlin bureau starting on March 17th, 2025. The job will involve.

Contribute to coordinate the video coverage in Germany, in relations with other contributors
You will shoot and edit news stories and features from Germany, as well as coordinate our video coverage, manage and maintain our network of freelancers, and provide video training in the bureau where appropriate, for the international video service of AFP as well as contributing to the German video service with a local production.
Reporting to AFPTV editors in London and the Berlin bureau chief and coordinator, you will be skilled at setting up, shooting, scripting, voicing, and editing news and feature packages, as well as delivering very high-quality b-roll edits.
The role will involve travel across Germany and occasionally elsewhere in Europe and the world depending on the agency’s needs.
The team in Germany is currently with two video journalists including the coordinator based in Berlin and one in Munich. Several video journalists from the German service also contribute to the production, as well as a network of freelancers. When the coordinator is away, the job will involve sending advisories and filling IRIS 360.
The successful candidate will have to maintain the credibility and reliability of our coverage and respect for the agency's editorial policy and copyright guidelines.
Candidates should be familiar with using social media as a news-gathering tool. They will also be comfortable sourcing user generated content and applying AFP’s editorial guidelines concerning the use of UGC.
In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.
SKILLS REQUIRED
We are looking for someone with:
- At least five years of experience filming and editing short-format hard news and news feature packages for broadcast or cable networks.
- Speaking/writing fluent German as well as English or French.
- Excellent news judgment, knowledge of current events and strong editing skills.
- Good shooting/editing skills, including live video.
- Honed digital non-linear editing skills, preferably on Adobe Premiere.
- Understanding of live feeds transmission.
- Ability to coordinate a network of stringers.
- Good knowledge of social media and the AFPTV authenticating process
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and availability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Driving license
