THE JOB
As one of five text journalists based in AFP's busy Cairo office, including the Francophone bureau chief, you will have an in-depth knowledge of Egyptian politics, culture and society. You must be passionate about Egypt and have an enviable contacts book stretching across different sectors of this multi-faceted, fascinating country.
THE JOB
You will contribute to the coverage of much of West Africa, on a continent where AFP is a leading news agency. The nine countries on your patch (Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Cape Verde) provide constant, varied and often unpredictable news, from the spread of jihadism and instability in the Sahel, to politics and natural disasters. The region also offers a wealth of material on topics of vital interest to AFP and its clients: climate and environment, lifestyle, economy, health and culture.
THE JOB
AFP is seeking a digital verification reporter with strong digital investigation and precise writing skills to join its Kuala Lumpur bureau to report on disinformation in Malaysia.
The role is an exciting opportunity to be a part of AFP's fast-growing fact-checking network, which has seen it take a leading role in the global fight against disinformation.
Charles Havas creates Agence Havas as Agence des Feuilles Politiques.
As the world’s first international news agency, it uses a network of correspondents and translators. Trains and homing pigeons bring in the news to Paris from all over France and other European countries.
From 1835 to 1875, the Agence Havas offices are located on rue
Jean-Jacques Rousseau in Paris,
opposite the General Post Office.
The Agency starts to use electrical telegraphs, an invention which enables it to expand.
Soon it is better and faster informed of what is going on in the world.
In response to the Crimean war (1854-1856) it extends its European network all the way to Saint Petersburg and the Bosphorus.
