AFP journalists Christina Assi and Dylan Collins to speak at the Press Freedom Center Forum
AFP journalists Christina Assi and Dylan Collins will speak at the Press Freedom Center Forum to share their experience of the Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon on 13 October 2023. The event will take place on 12 March 2025 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
The two journalists, both injured during that attack, have been invited to participate in the forum, alongside their colleagues from Al Jazeera and Reuters.
Dylan Collins will be attending the event in person, while Christina Assi will participate remotely via video.
The other speakers will include:
- Bill McCarren, Director of the Press Freedom Center at the National Press Club
- Elie Brakhya, Cameraman for Al Jazeera, injured on October 13, 2023
- Maya Gebeily, Head of Reuters' Beirut Bureau who lost her colleague, cameraman Issam Abdallah in the same incident.
The forum will be moderated by Jason Rezaian, Director of Press Freedom Initiatives at The Washington Post.
This event is limited to accredited journalists but will be available for live viewing on YouTube (find the video below) on Wednesday, 12 March 2025 at 6:00 PM (Washington time) and 11:30 PM (Paris time).
