Marcelo is considered one of the most decorated futsal players of recent years. As a member of the Spanish side Palma Futsal (now Illes Balears Palma Futsal), he won the UEFA Futsal Champions League twice and also claimed the Intercontinental Cup.

He began his professional career in Brazil with Campo Mourão, later joining Corinthians, where he won both the Brazilian Cup (2019) and the Brazilian Super Cup (2020). In 2021, he moved to Noia Portus Apostoli in Spain, helping the club earn promotion to the top tier and winning the Copa Xunta de Galicia twice.

Marcelo now continues his career in an ambitious Central Asian project. FC Semey, founded in 2023, became Kazakhstan’s national champion in its debut season. The club also represented the country in the UEFA Futsal Champions League, reaching the Elite Round, where they were narrowly defeated by eventual champions — Spain’s Palma Futsal.

“This is an exciting and important new chapter for me. I didn’t come just to play — I came to win,” said dos Santos. “The club has a clear vision for growth and international success, and I fully share that ambition.”

“Signing a player of Marcelo’s caliber reflects our long-term vision,” said Yerik Aubakirov, President of FC Semey. “He brings top-tier experience and fully aligns with our club’s values. We’re confident his arrival will strengthen us both in Kazakhstan and on the international stage.”

About the Club

FC Semey is the first and only privately-owned futsal club in Kazakhstan. Founded in 2023 in the city of Semey, the club claimed the national title in its inaugural season and represented the country in UEFA competition. FC Semey is owned by EA Group, an investment holding established by local entrepreneurs. As of 2025, the club continues building a competitive squad with ambitions in both domestic and international tournaments.
