Project "Rich Media News Agency"

The global news and media industry is battling once-in-a-lifetime challenges: recession worsened by a dramatic fall in advertising income, and the technological challenge of the digital revolution, the rise of the Internet and innovation in the mobile phone sector.

To meet these challenges, AFP has launched an ambitious project “Rich Media News Agency” to transform itself, sharpen its multimedia edge, make the agency more reactive to markets and enable it to step up production of the new content that clients want. As part of this drive, AFP is canvassing clients and key industry figures to gather their opinions on the major issues facing the media, the stakes involved and the structural changes anticipated in coming years. Launched at a global level by AFP’s sales and marketing team, the study has three main objectives :

  • To gauge how clients and the industry view AFP products, and their level of satisfaction particularly with multimedia products ;
  • To evaluate current and future needs for news content, and plan how AFP products should evolve (content, means of distribution, innovative pricing, complementary high value added services etc) ;
  • To assess the state of the market and the way it will probably change over the next three to 10 years, particularly with regards to the role of news agencies.

These interviews with strategic actors in the world of print, television, radio, Internet, mobile phones and other areas, will help AFP to determine what direction to take in its own multimedia revolution. We would like to ask you to take part in our debate and help us build the Agence France-Presse of tomorrow. Send an email tosurveymultimedia@afp.com and we will contact you to arrange a brief interview. A summary of the conclusions of the study will be sent to all those who participate.

Thank you in advance
