Sylvie Vormus joins the management team at AFP as Director of Communications and corporate brand

A law graduate with degrees in English and Spanish, Vormus, 52, began her career as a journalist, writing for the daily l'Aurore, VSD magazine and the Quotidien de Paris before joining Agence Centrale de Presse, where she became head of the political service.

She switched to communications and press relations posts between 1992 and 2001, becoming the spokeswoman for Herni Emmanuelli when he was speaker of the national assembly, and later when he became secretary of the Socialist Party.

She was also press secretary to Laurent Fabius both while he was economy minister and national assembly speaker

Vormus joined the National Audiovisual Institute as head of communications and public relations in 2001, where she was advisor to Emmanuel Hoog on corporate strategy and development. In that role, she reorganised the Ina's internal and external communications, overhauling the institute's intranet portal and launching the website ina.fr.
