AFP subsidiary FACTSTORY co-produces documentary ‘Nigeria: Seeds of Hope’

FACTSTORY, an AFP subsidiary, has co-produced the documentary ‘Nigeria: Seeds of Hope’, directed by Judith Rueff and Moïse Gomis, in partnership with ARTE G.E.I.E. and France 24.

The film, which explores efforts to tackle the environmental and humanitarian crisis in the Niger Delta, will be broadcast in French on ARTE, a European cultural television channel, on 15 February 2025. It will also be available online from 14 February on arte.tv.

The documentary takes viewers into the heart of the Niger Delta, one of the most polluted regions in the world, severely impacted by decades of oil spills. The destruction of vital mangroves — crucial for biodiversity, climate regulation, and the survival of local communities — has had devastating consequences.

Despite the devastation, hope persists. The documentary follows local scientists, environmental activists, and London-based lawyers who are working together to find sustainable solutions. Through an immersive approach, the film highlights their efforts to restore the ecosystem and improve living conditions for the people of the region.
