Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Jiji Press have marked the 75th anniversary of their partnership in Japan, signing a new agreement giving the Japanese news agency exclusive rights to sell certain AFP content in Japan for the next three years.
Jiji Press President Katsuhiko Sakai and AFP’s Chairman & CEO Fabrice Fries signed the three-year agreement on distribution of AFP’s text, photo and graphics in Japan, on Friday April 11 at Jiji’s Tokyo headquarters.
“This partnership is immensely important to AFP. It is a friendship that has developed over time – we know each other well,” Mr Fries said at the signing ceremony.
The two agencies discussed past cooperation, particularly on major events, and plans to collaborate on future AI-related projects.
“We are happy with this contract renewal which marks an important step in our partnership,” Mr Sakai said.
