Global news agency AFP (Agence France-Presse) will extend its successful interactive online sports products with two new offerings in 2009. The Champions League and Europa League (formerly UEFA Cup) Flash™ applications will launch in September 2009 and be available in a wide range of languages.
AFP’s Global Sports Marketing Manager Eric Axelson said “We are delighted to be able to extend the success of our interactive application product range to the Champions League and Europa League. These are clearly global phenomena and of interest to millions of people.”
AFP sports interactive applications have been available for over 8 years covering Formula One, Tour de France, European Football Leagues and more. Statistics have shown that due to the interactivity and real-time results provided by the application, users are engaged in these applications for more than 20 minutes on average.
The soccer applications contain complete fixtures and results for every match. Every player is featured with detailed fact files including: name, age, number, weight, height, time played, number of matches started, substitute appearances and number of goals & cards received.
Readers can be kept up to date in real time with live scores, team line ups, red & yellow cards, substitutions, penalties, attendance and even the weather! After each match the application will have updated rankings for every team.
The applications cover all group and knockout phases and contain detailed statistics on leading scorers, best attack and defense, plus who leads in red & yellow cards. There are also team photos and a map of each country with stadium information.
It is designed to meet an advertiser’s needs – a logo or text ad can be embedded directly into the application and the loading page. Banner ads can also be automatically rotated with every click within the application. Color, background, image, font and language can all be customized.
