European Committee of the Regions : Highlights from the December plenary session

Migration was on the top of the agenda of the European Committee of the Regions' plenary session on 7 - 8 December. The EU's assembly of local and regional representatives also adopted recommendations on the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI), REFIT, the collaborative economy, the New Skills Agenda for Europe, the posting of workers as well as the Audiovisual Media Services Directive.

Brussels attacks: update for British Nationals

There have been explosions at Zaventem International Airport in Brussels on 22 March 2016. There has also been an explosion at Maalbeek station in central Brussels. The airport is currently closed. Seeds Discovered in Excavations by the Israel Antiquities Authority Indicate: Prehistoric Man Living in the Southern Near East 10,000 Years Age

A joint study by researchers of the Weizmann Institute and the Israel Antiquities Authority, which examined fava seeds exposed in archaeological excavations in recent years at Neolithic sites in the Galilee, sheds light on the nutritional habits of the people that lived in the area 10,000 years ago. Seeds found at the prehistoric sites show that the inhabitants' diet at the time consisted mainly of fava beans, as well as lentils, various types of peas and chickpeas.

Air Liquide signs long-term contract with major petroleum group in China

Air Liquide signed a new long-term contract with Yan'an Energy and Chemical Co., a subsidiary of Yanchang Petroleum Group, one of the four largest Chinese companies for oil and natural gas exploration & production, and oil refining. Under the terms of the new agreement, Air Liquide will invest around 80 million euros in two state-of-the-art ASUs (Air Separation Units), with a total capacity of 2,800 tonnes of oxygen per day.
