AFP hiring Asia fact-check editor

AFP is seeking an English-language editor with strong digital investigation skills to join its Hong Kong-based fact check team to focus on misinformation in Asia and edit fact-checking stories from around the region.


The role is an exciting opportunity to be a part of AFP's fast-growing fact-checking network, which has seen it take a leading role in the global fight against false information online.


The successful applicant will be required to edit reports in English about disinformation from countries from Australia to Sri Lanka, and write reports in English about disinformation going viral, epecially in the wake of a breaking news event in the Asia Pacific region.


The position requires an agile journalist who can easily identify digital disinformation online, with a focus on UGC, whether that be on major social media platforms such as Facebook, discussion boards or encrypted chat apps. As such, the applicant must demonstrate experience in digital verification techniques and tools.


Strong editing skills and solid news judgement are a must. Asian languages would be a plus. The role requires an ability to work in a fast-paced multimedia newsroom and meet tight deadlines, as well as collaborating as part of a global team.
