African governments spend an average of just five per cent of their national budgets on agriculture risking even greater hunger across the continent, according to a new report published today by the international agency, ActionAid.
Despite promising 10 years ago to spend 10 per cent of their budgets on agriculture within five years, only seven of the 49 countries in sub-Saharan Arica have consistently reached the target.
The new bank EU supervisory structure will do away with "biased national practices", but the system for dealing with troubled banks must be ambitious, too.
