Teenager Kirani James wins men's 400m

LONDON (AFP)

Teenager Kirani James took gold in the men's 400m on Monday to win Grenada's first Olympic medal of any colour and become the first non-American winner of the event since 1980.

James, 19, the reigning world champion, powered home in 43.94sec. Luguelin Santos, also 19, of the Dominican Republic, took silver while Trinidad and Tobago's Lalonde Gordon took bronze.
