Spain unveils new austerity budget

MADRID (AFP)

Spain will set up a new independent body to monitor its public finances, the government said on Thursday as it announced a key 2013 budget and reforms to tackle its debt crisis.

Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria announced the creation of an "independent budget authority" at a news conference where ministers presented a budget with tens of billions of euros in cuts and savings.
