Japan train hits truck, mounts platform: police

TOKYO (AFP)

A passenger train hit a truck on a level crossing in western Japan on Tuesday, mounting a platform of a nearby train station, leaving at least 16 people injured, police said.

A picture published by the Yomiuri Shimbun showed a carriage half on a platform in Hyogo prefecture. A spokesman for the local police confirmed the accident and said the injury toll may rise.
