England held by Poland in World Cup qualifier

WARSAW (AFP)

England and Poland drew 1-1 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier on Wednesday after the match had been postponed on Tuesday following heavy rain which swamped the Polish capital.

Wayne Rooney put England ahead after 31 minutes when he headed in a corner from Steven Gerrard.

But Poland deservedly levelled in the 70th minute when Kamil Gilk powerfully headed home from a corner with England goalkeeper Joe Hart left flapping at the ball.

England stay top of Group H with eight points from four games, one more than Montenegro and three ahead of Poland.
