England 29-1 against South Africa

LONDON (AFP)

England were 29 for one in reply to South Africa's first innings 309, a deficit of 280 runs, at lunch on the second day of the third Test at Lord's on Friday.

England captain Andrew Strauss was bowled by Morne Morkel for 20 off the last ball before lunch, with fellow left-handed opener Alastair Cook unbeaten on six.

South Africa lead the three-match series 1-0 and only need to avoid defeat at Lord's to replace England as the world's top-ranked Test side.
