Belgian rider Philippe Gilbert of the BMC team won the 19th stage of the Tour of Spain on Friday, a 178.4-kilometre race through completely flat terrain from Penafiel to La Lastrilla.

Spain's Alberto Contador, back in the saddle after a two-year doping ban, held on to the overall leader's red jersey for the third straight day.
